What is the Somatic Re-patterning Approach?
The root of somatic is “soma” and the Greek definition of “soma” is the living body in its wholeness. The body and mind are one - connected and integrated.
Somatic coaching builds on the foundational principles that a person is more than intellect, and that true growth and transformation are more than a set of goals and actions.
The Somatic Re-patterning Approach posits that although humans are inherently intellectual from the neck up, we also have potential intelligence in our somatic experience, much of which is yet untapped. We have body wisdom and emotional intelligence which must be engaged for lasting growth and change.
We have all been somatically shaped by our life experiences. Some of these shapes and “patterns” that we have developed are healthy and productive. Others that have served us well in the past no longer benefit our current growth and aspirations. To change the shape of our experience moving forward, it is essential to include the “soma” (wholeness) in the process of re-patterning.
The Somatic Re-patterning Approach is a methodology that elicits and supports foundational human growth and change. It utilizes techniques which have been influenced by neurobiology, body-centered psychology, systems theory and epigenetics. Furthermore, SRA draws from practices of formal meditation, applied mindfulness, and positive psychology to support growth-oriented transformation. It connects biology, societal influence, personal psychology and spirituality in a fundamental way for empowered change.
SRA has also been informed by my own personal path of healing and transformation which includes 25 years of formal meditation through several traditions, deep dives into intergenerational trauma, and my personal study of nature-based and soul-centric Native traditions, working with numerous Elders and Wisdom Keepers. In creating this body of work, I have developed practices and processes that will guide you on your journey of sustainable growth and transformation.
